Hey, I’m Josh!
Howdy!
I’m a Midwest basedDP /Director of Photography out of Indianapolis since 2023! I graduated Ball State University in 2021 with a bachelors in telecommunication with a focus on video production. Im most familiar with low to mid sized crews, run n gun doc projects and talking head interviews (my favorite). My experience mostly comes from working in ministry as the Film Director (head of the film and video dept) at my church, Connection Pointe Christian Church, and freelancing as a Director of photography in the Doc and commercial space. Im married to my wonderful wife Alethea going on 3 years now! Have 2 energetic kittens named Tom and Jerry and 1 chill adult cat named Timba, I also love to do boxing in my freetime!
What I’m currently working on
Recently I was DP’ing a doc for the Smithsonian Museum in southern Indiana about the oldest 4th of July parade and festival in the nation, that’s been running since the 1800’s! Since this doc has a more run n gun verite nature, I used my Sony FX6 paired with my Fujinon Cabrio 20-120mm and an easyrig as the A cam.
The director of the Doc, Erik Thein, is a previous co-worker of mine and we’ve worked together on other projects before. I also got to meet Brian Hansen, another industry professional specializing in Audio. The shoot was fun, hot, humid, and sweaty and I cant wait to look back and laugh over how crazy it was. The film is currently in post production and will be released late August. A feature length version of this doc will be released in a year.
